The 7th annual Derby Mini Maker Faire is now ‘On the Road’ until 2020, when it will return bigger than ever at the new Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill. This year the Faire is being generously hosted by the Eagle Market in Derby City Centre on Saturday 27 October 2018 from 10am – 4pm.

We need enthusiastic, friendly and hardworking volunteers to help us make this Maker Faire reach out to more people.

What is a Maker Faire?
Maker Faires are held all over the world. They are an international initiative – the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth! It is a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement!
Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.

Why volunteer for Derby Mini Maker Faire?

Maker Faire is always brilliant fun and, for volunteers, the choice of exciting roles means you’ll have the chance to make a positive difference, whilst having a blast!  There’ll be hands-on opportunities to help Makers set up for the day, enhance visitor experience with a warm welcome and orientation, support fascinating ‘making’ activities and workshops and lots more!

If you have a love of or an interest in making and enjoy interacting with people of all ages, this is a fantastic opportunity to share your passion whilst gathering a little ‘making’ inspiration for yourself!  You’ll have the chance to meet and support makers working across a vast array of disciplines.  If you have particular skills you’d like to share as a volunteer (perhaps you’re a tech-genius or a visit experience-pro) or if you’d like to develop your skills in some way through volunteering, just let us know and we’ll do our best to match your skills and motivations to the most interesting and enjoyable roles for you.  No experience is necessary to get involved.

If you would like to find out more and to request a volunteering information pack, contact our Co-production Volunteer Coordinator Gemma on Gemma@derbymuseums.org or 01332 642268.

Come and join the fun!
